In the context of the Internet of Things (IoT), Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML) and Big Data, enhanced by Edge Artificial Intelligence, are essential for effectively managing the extensive data produced by numerous connected devices. Our study introduces a set of TinyML algorithms designed and developed to improve Big Data management in large-scale IoT systems. These algorithms, named TinyCleanEDF, EdgeClusterML, CompressEdgeML, CacheEdgeML, and TinyHybridSenseQ, operate together to enhance data processing, storage, and quality control in IoT networks, utilizing the capabilities of Edge AI. In particular, TinyCleanEDF applies federated learning for Edge-based data cleaning and anomaly detection. EdgeClusterML combines reinforcement learning with self-organizing maps for effective data clustering. CompressEdgeML uses neural networks for adaptive data compression. CacheEdgeML employs predictive analytics for smart data caching, and TinyHybridSenseQ concentrates on data quality evaluation and hybrid storage strategies. Our experimental evaluation of the proposed techniques includes executing all the algorithms in various numbers of Raspberry Pi devices ranging from one to ten. The experimental results are promising as we outperform similar methods across various evaluation metrics. Ultimately, we anticipate that the proposed algorithms offer a comprehensive and efficient approach to managing the complexities of IoT, Big Data, and Edge AI.

Efficient query processing in traditional database management systems relies on statistics on base data. For centralized systems, there is a rich body of research results on such statistics, from simple aggregates to more elaborate synopses such as sketches and histograms. For Internet-scale distributed systems, on the other hand, statistics management still poses major challenges. With the work in this paper we aim to endow peer-to-peer data management over structured overlays with the power associated with such statistical information, with emphasis on meeting the scalability challenge. To this end, we first contribute efficient, accurate, and decentralized algorithms that can compute key aggregates such as Count, CountDistinct, Sum, and Average. We show how to construct several types of histograms, such as simple Equi-Width, Average-Shifted Equi-Width, and Equi-Depth histograms. We present a full-fledged open-source implementation of these tools for distributed statistical synopses, and report on a comprehensive experimental performance evaluation, evaluating our contributions in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a network where different smart devices are interconnected through the Internet. This network enables these devices to communicate, share data, and exert control over the surrounding physical environment to work as a data-driven mobile computing system. Nevertheless, due to wireless networks' openness, connectivity, resource constraints, and smart devices' resource limitations, the IoT is vulnerable to several different routing attacks. Addressing these security concerns becomes crucial if data exchanged over IoT networks is to remain precise and trustworthy. This study presents a trust management evaluation for IoT devices with routing using the cryptographic algorithms Rivest, Shamir, Adleman (RSA), Self-Adaptive Tasmanian Devil Optimization (SA_TDO) for optimal key generation, and Secure Hash Algorithm 3-512 (SHA3-512), as well as an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for spotting threats in IoT routing. By verifying the validity and integrity of the data exchanged between nodes and identifying and thwarting network threats, the proposed approach seeks to enhance IoT network security. The stored data is encrypted using the RSA technique, keys are optimally generated using the Tasmanian Devil Optimization (TDO) process, and data integrity is guaranteed using the SHA3-512 algorithm. Deep Learning Intrusion detection is achieved with Convolutional Spiking neural network-optimized deep neural network. The Deep Neural Network (DNN) is optimized with the Archimedes Optimization Algorithm (AOA). The developed model is simulated in Python, and the results obtained are evaluated and compared with other existing models. The findings indicate that the design is efficient in providing secure and reliable routing in IoT-enabled, futuristic, smart vertical networks while identifying and blocking threats. The proposed technique also showcases shorter response times (209.397 s at 70% learn rate, 223.103 s at 80% learn rate) and shorter sharing record times (13.0873 s at 70% learn rate, 13.9439 s at 80% learn rate), which underlines its strength. The performance metrics for the proposed AOA-ODNN model were evaluated at learning rates of 70% and 80%. The highest metrics were achieved at an 80% learning rate, with an accuracy of 0.989434, precision of 0.988886, sensitivity of 0.988886, specificity of 0.998616, F-measure of 0.988886, Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC) of 0.895521, Negative predictive value (NPV) of 0.998616, False Positive Rate (FPR) of 0.034365, and False Negative Rate (FNR) of 0.103095.

The problem that I present in this paper concerns the issue of ethical evaluation of algorithms, especially those used in social media and which create profiles of users of these media and new technologies that have recently emerged and are intended to change the functioning of technologies used in data management. Systems such as Overton, SambaNova or Snorkel were created to help engineers create data management models, but they are based on different assumptions than the previous approach in machine learning and deep learning. There is a need to analyze both deep learning algorithms and new technologies in database management in terms of their actions towards a person who leaves their digital footprints, on which these technologies work. Then, the possibilities of applying the existing deep learning technology and new Big Data systems in the economy will be shown. The opportunities offered by the systems mentioned above seem to be promising for many companies and—if implemented on a larger scale—they will affect the functioning of the free market.

. Competitive on-line algorithms for data management in a network of processors are studied in this paper. A data object such as a file or a page of virtual memory is to be read and updated by various processors in the network. The goal is to minimize the communication costs incurred in serving a sequence of such requests. Distributed data management on important classes of networks---trees and bus based networks, are studied. Optimal algorithms with constant competitive ratios and matching lower bounds are obtained. Our algorithms use different interesting techniques such as work functions [9] and "factoring." Key words. on-line algorithms, competitive analysis, memory management, data management. With growing climate change concerns, and constant advancements in smart technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and algorithms (STARA), organisations in emerging economies are becoming more compelled to go green, develop and deploy their STARA capability to boost profits more effectively, and their environmental sustainability (ES). Likewise, with governments increasingly calling for ES, organisations' human resource management (HRM) is further pressured to ensure their programmes aid realisation of environmental objectives without compromising profit maximisation. However, it remains unclear how complementary Green HRM (GHRM) programmes can be supported by organisational STARA capability (OSC) to bolster ES. Accordingly, we investigate how OSC and GHRM programmes predict ES through a time lagged survey design with data from 461 managers of 177 manufacturing organisations in Nigeria. Results indicate that OSC positively predicts all GHRM programmes and ES but dampens the positive relationship between green training, involvement and development (GTID), and ES. Apart from green performance and compensation (GPC), which is a negative predictor, other GHRM programmes positively predict ES. While green recruitment and selection (GRS) and GTID are complementary mediators, GPC plays a competitive mediating role. Policy implications are subsequently discussed

Big data and sophisticated algorithms enable software to handle increasingly complex tasks, such as detecting fraud, optimizing logistics routes, and even driving cars. Beyond technical tasks, algorithms enable new ways to organize work. In this article, I suggest a distinction of optimizing-oriented and open-ended systems leveraging big data and examine how they are shaping organizational design. The optimizing-oriented systems, typically based on numerical data, enable smarter control of well-defined tasks, including algorithmic management of human work. Open-ended systems, often based on textual data or visualizations, can provide answers to a broad range of managerial questions relevant to effective organizing, thereby enabling smarter and more responsive definition of tasks and allocation of resources and effort. Algorithms processing conversations that naturally take place in organizations can form ‘computer augmented transparency’, creating a host of potential benefits, but also threats. These developments are leading to a wave of innovation in organizational design and changes to institutionalized norms of the workplace.Peer reviewe

The digitalization of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) led to an increasing amount of clinical data being collected at the bedside. The term "Big Data" can be used to refer to the analysis of these datasets that collect enormous amount of data of different origin and format. Complexity and variety define the value of Big Data. In fact, the retrospective analysis of these datasets allows to generate new knowledge, with consequent potential improvements in the clinical practice. Despite the promising start of Big Data analysis in medical research, which has seen a rising number of peer-reviewed articles, very limited applications have been used in ICU clinical practice. A close future effort should be done to validate the knowledge extracted from clinical Big Data and implement it in the clinic. In this article, we provide an introduction to Big Data in the ICU, from data collection and data analysis, to the main successful examples of prognostic, predictive and classification models based on ICU data. In addition, we focus on the main challenges that these models face to reach the bedside and effectively improve ICU care.

Virtual Machine (VM) management is an obvious need in today's data centers for various management activities and is accomplished in two phases— finding an optimal VM placement plan and implementing that placement through live VM migrations. These phases result in two research problems— VM placement problem (VMPP) and VM migration scheduling problem (VMMSP). This research proposes and develops several evolutionary algorithms and heuristic algorithms to address the VMPP and VMMSP. Experimental results show the effectiveness and scalability of the proposed algorithms. Finally, a VM management framework has been proposed and developed to automate the VM management activity in cost-efficient way
