TL;DRTheunc13A gene has been identified as a shared risk locus for ALS and FTD by genome-wide association studies, but the association between UNC13A and disease risk has not been elucidated, suggesting that ALS-causing mechanisms converge on this central pathological axis. (Semantic Scholar)
