Abstract
The present research aims to investigate the relationship of hopelessness with suicidal ideation among adults. For this purpose the scales were needed to measure suicidal ideation and hopelessness among adults. Therefore, beck suicidal ideation scale and beck hopelessness scale were used. A total of 150 patients were taken purposively from DHQ Hospital Attock . The hypothesis of research was that there is a positive relationship between hopelessness and suicidal ideation and the results proved it. The correlation between hopelessness and suicidal ideation is significant at 0.05 levels Results indicates that 26 adults were in normal range of hopelessness, 84 lies in mild range, 35 were having moderate values and 5 adults show high hopelessness out of 150 patients. Reliability analysis shows that the scales used are reliable. Another hypothesis was that there is a significant gender difference on hopelessness and suicidal ideation but results rejected this hypothesis because analysis shows that there is no gender difference between suicidal ideation and hopelessness past research findings supported this hypothesis.
