Abstract
This chapter focuses on the efforts to develop drugs against dengue. The dengue drug treatment hypothesis and drug profile are presented. The drug targets, candidate drugs and drug discovery and development process are described. Lessons from the development of oseltamivir (Tamiflu), the repurposing of old drugs for new indications as a more cost-effective drug development strategy, and biomarkers and clinical endpoints of antiviral efficacy are discussed.
