Abstract
The policy brief contends that health insurance policies need to be able to differentiate between populations, such as developed and remote or under‐developed regions in Indonesia. Without clear distinctions geographical inequity in access to health services will continue to be of concern. Jamkesmas is Indonesia's government-financed health coverage program for the poor and near-poor. The Health Ministry is expected to consider policies that increase the Jamkesmas budget to fix socio‐economic inequality, and follow up with other policies aimed at addressing geographic disparities
